  1. There are a lot of good examples in this analysis. You've pointed out the problem and a ton of violations that have taken place quite recently. It really has grown over the years and I think its about time that the NCAA start locking down on the agents. I think the agents should suffer greater punishment for their actions, and the athletes should not have to face such harsh punishment. If I were to be offered these awesome perks I wouldn't turn them down either. Reggie Bush is a boss, and I don't think what he did was wrong at all. Anyone that turns down a free house is just stupid in my eyes. I found another article that I think you should take a look at... uwire.com/2010/10/14/column-ncaa-agent-problem-worse-than-thought/
It specifically looks into one agents past. He literally tells the interviewer everything illegal he had done during recruiting. I think it'll help you understand the mindset of an agent better, and it may even make you think differently about these agents.

  2. Hi Bob, This analysis post has some great sources; however, it's mostly a list of sources and not an analysis. How is the issue being constructed in the public sphere, i.e. how are people talking about it? To analyze you break something into its parts and examine each of the parts and how they together construct the whole. What aspects of this issue are people talking about? Why? How do the various parts relate to each other? What is the underlying worldview that has made this issue a problem?

Equally, Bob, I am concerned that you are not keeping up with posts now. You have some work to do to catch up!

  3. I think it is revolting how agents can screw up the lives of talented athletes and end their collegiate careers and have no repurcussions. Your post is insightful and your sources are good. I believe a number of things about this topic so I am particularly interested. I think that there should be rules banning the ability of an agent to communicate at all with any players until the end of their collegiate career. I think that if these agents violate the rule, there should be SEVERE punishment. Perhaps a very large fine, losing his/her job, or even jail time? All I know is that it is totally unfair to the players. The NFL should work with the NCAA to punish the agents... not the players. The system is backwards! Again, great post and I'll be following more.

  4. At alex yes Reggie Bush is a BOSS! Im glad that you agree with me on many things throughout my post i noticed that you said that if you didnt accept a free house you are stupid. Well take this for example you are a starting QB for the Alabama Crimson Tide! You are predicted to go #1 in the NFL draft and with that you sign a 9.9 MILLION dollar signing bonus. But a agent comes to you hey man i got this house its real nice 3 stories its gotta elevator in it and a pool! Do you take it and risk not playing that year or do you not take it, play and then sign your contract and buy that house and 5 more just like it?

  5. At JQ i think you see as i did in the begining its not just the agents that are in the wrong here. The players know what they are doing is wrong! I know as much as I hate to admit it that the agents are not the only ones at fault here! But i agree with you 100000000% the system is backwards our nation was not designed for you to be guilty in the court of law until proven innocent.
